About Philosophy of Art Montage Project

Montage is a concept originally developed in the construction of film, involving slicing images together in unexpected ways to reveal a message not otherwise expressible. Montage now more generally refers to an artistic technique of mixed media, which allows for the exposition of an idea or feeling through the sequential presentation of complimentary or conflicting content.  Unlike traditional linear arguments and writings, montage explores non-linear methods to allow for a more productive composition of insights and ideas.

This montage consists of a series of disjointed entries that examine the topic: What is art? Each entry explores an idea, artwork, artist, concept, observation, etc.  The entries can include but are not limited to: poems, free associations, short/long entries, quotes, pictures, infographics, philosophical analyses, etc.  Enjoy!
